Cyberstalking on Facebook

Facebook as online platform offers new possibilities for stalker known as Cyberstalking.  This can be in the form of mobbing, or also by injury of the private sphere. There are also different types of Cyberstalking.

The most common is the stalk of women. This can include rape threats through threats of violence and murder as well as the posting of private information.

Not only women are victims of online stalking, every current or former romantic partner can be a victim of online harassment. It is a form of domestic violence to encourage social isolation and create dependency. Stalkers use emails or personal information about their victims to unsettle and to harass them.

There are not only individual stalkers, but also groups or mobs which can be much more effective. They are in the position to stalk one or more victims at the same time and also extensive and to hurt them, on which as always.

Social networks like Facebook or Google+ give a glimpse into the private life of everyone who is connected with. It is easier now to get secret information or get in contact with someone. They may engage in live chat harassment or flaming or they may send electronic viruses and unsolicited e-mails. Cyberstalkers may research individuals to feed their obsessions and curiosity. Conversely, the acts of Cyberstalkers may become more intense, such as repeatedly instant messaging their targets.

It is not easy to protect themselves against such attacks on the private lives and it is even more difficult for parents to protect their child against such a risk. Because it is easy to sign up and private data put online even as minor. But educating about the dangers of the online posting of private data is nearly not available.

A way to protect themselves, is not to register on social networks, but often has an exclusion from the social environment as a result. A social exclusion in the teenage age can have serious psychological and interpersonal consequences. This may result from slight mental consequences up to the perfect demarcation, in the worst case this perfect separation leads to a killing spree.

Also it is easier now for pedophiles to contact or stalk children. Many young people post their schools and many more private data online. It is also possible with the correct knowledge of computer science to get popular locations of youth over the GPS, because GPS locations are stored on Facebook.

There is a new age for stalkers and human-human spy.
